Christmas Home Tour

Hi Guys. This is my last post before taking a couple of weeks off for Christmas. It is only appropriate then that I end off the year by giving you all a Christmas home tour. I started a little late and had most of it done earlier this month, but still had some finishing touches to make this past weekend.  It’s now done, and just in time for Christmas 🙂

Before I go, I just want to say thank you for checking in to read the blog. It’s been an amazing six months. And knowing that there is even a small part of this blog that you enjoy, makes all the difference to me. I am incredibly grateful for all of you and for the amazing bloggers out there who have reached out to show their support and enthusiasm for what I do – and the feeling is mutual.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas and I will see you all back here in January 2016.

Now on with the tour!

Below is a view of our front door with a simple, fresh boxwood wreath that I made a few weeks back.

No glue or floral wire was required to make it. Check out the tutorial here:  How to Make a Boxwood Wreath.

Once you open the door, you are greeted with a simply decorated foyer. The wreaths are synthetic, but the garland is made of fresh pine.

Walking through the foyer, you enter our Great Room with a combination living room/dining room/kitchen space. Directly in front is the view of the living ‘room’ area.

The tree is synthetic, but incredibly lifelike and fits perfectly in the corner, next to the sofa.

For ornaments, I chose mixed metals and whites. The whites add a nice contrast to the tree and metals.

The tree is also pre-lit, which reflects off the metallic ornaments, creating a lovely glow.

Moving from the living ‘room’ area is our dining table and buffet, just behind the sofa.

On the opposite end of the room is a half wall that covers the staircase leading into the basement.

It was a challenge for my husband and I to hang these pine wreaths (with a bit of bickering back and forth 😉 ), but I am happy with the result!

I’ve written about the cubby wall display before. The colourful backs are actually inserts that are interchangeable. To see how to create them, check out the tutorial here: DIY cubby wall display.  This Christmas, I decided to create an abstract, mixed metal ornament display in the cubbies.

There are a lot of fine details in the rest of the space. I’ll let the following photos speak for themselves.

Last but not least is the Christmas card display. This year, the cards are tucked away in our den where I’ve placed them on the shelves of the bookcase. This is probably my favourite way to display them. They seem to fit well here, don’t ya think?
