A Colorful Curated Outdoor Patio (& A Blog Hop!)

Happy Monday everyone! Today I’m excited to be sharing my colorful curated outdoor patio. Some of you already know that I recently shared a patio decor haul on Facebook Live and now I’m ready to show you all the final reveal!

I’m also being joined today by my blogging pals – Katrin from KreativK, Tanya from TwelveOeight, and Kellie from Gratefully Vintage – who are sharing their gorgeous outdoor spaces today. My Colorful Curated Outdoor Patio  

As you know, I am not normally carried away by color in my home. A subtle, subdued palette tends to be my preferred choice these days. But when it comes to the outdoors, I really wanted to create a fun, welcoming atmosphere to be enjoyed not only by me and hubby, but by our guests.

Seeing that a picture is worth a thousand words, then I’ll let the photos do all the talking today 🙂

Tips On How To Incorporate Color Without Compromising on Style

When deciding to incorporate pops of color into a neutral space – whether indoors or out – creating a cohesive look (as opposed to something that’s mismatched or messy) can be tricky. Here are some quick tips that will make adding color a whole lot easier:

1.  Choose No More Than 3-5 Colors: The more colors you use, the more difficult it will be to make a space feel pulled together. By limiting your colors to 3-5, and sticking to it, it will be easier to make the space feel cohesive.

2.  Repeat Each Color 3 times: For a space to feel pulled together, each of the colors should be spread throughout. Two times minimum, but three is optimal. This way, the entire space harmonizes visually. If you take a quick peak at my own patio, you will be able to spot each of the three colors I chose (blue, green, and yellow) repeated at least three times throughout the space.

3.  Use Diverse Materials: When repeating your colors, choose a variety of materials that incorporates each color. Use pillows, throws, and planters, for example, each containing at least one of your chosen colors. Not only will your space feel put together, but using diverse materials will ensure that your colors are spread out.
