I’ve always been a sucker for wreath crafts. I love the simplicity of them and the beauty of them and, most importantly, how much fun they are to make. You can make big ones, small ones, lush ones, minimal ones, colourful ones, and monochromatic ones. And because they are so accessible – once we get over the fear of ‘doing it wrong’ that is – we are then only limited by our imagination. That’s why today I wanted to share 10 modern wreath DIYs that anyone can make. Whether you have been making wreaths for years, or you are new to the whole ‘crafting thing,’ let me show you some of my favourite wreath tutorials from the blog. Use them as a guide or follow them to the letter – whatever you feel comfortable with. Either way, let’s have some fun creating a wreath or two this season 🙂
Okay, here we go!
10 MODERN WREATH DIYS (THAT ANYONE CAN MAKE)
1. Twig Triangle Wreaths
These 5-minute twig triangle wreaths are a breeze to make. They were a recent addition to my craft room that add a lovely, rustic touch. You won’t believe how quick and easy they are to make.

2. Romantic Floral Wreath
This one can be made from scratch, using grapevine wire to create the wreath form and then a few well-placed faux florals to create a minimal, romantic touch. This wreath is also part of a set of 3 in which the pieces can be displayed together or separated out. You’ll want to check the full details in my tutorial on the blog.
3. Faux Wildflower Wreath
This faux wildflower wreath remains an all-time favourite of mine. It’s lush, yet modern with an interesting, colour-block design. Best of all? It did not require any glue or floral wire to put together 🙂
4. Fresh Boxwood Wreath
Much like the faux wildflower wreath above, this fresh, boxwood wreath does not require any floral wire or glue to make. Using a basic grapevine wreath and some boxwood pieces, you are pretty much ready to make a beautiful and modern farmhouse wreath on your front door.
5. Quick & Easy Faux Green Wreath
You might think that with a lush wreath like this one, you would need to set aside a lot of time to make, but not so with this green beauty! It took less than 30 minutes to make (it probably would have been 20 if I did not have to stop to take pictures 🙂 ). It’s a great indoor or outdoor piece ready to hang and enjoy anytime of year.
6. Minimal & Pretty Wildflower Wreath
Oh, these sweet little yellow wildflowers were so lovely to use in this wreath. I was inspired by all those wreath crowns that I’d been seeing on Pinterest. And while I don’t know what I’d do with an actual crown, I knew that a crown-inspired wreath could be hung anywhere in my home, both indoors and out.
7. Single-Stem Wreath (Facebook Live Tutorial)
This is the absolute easiest of the modern wreath DIYs on this list. The version above has a ‘snowy’ look for winter, but there are all sorts of single-stem wreath ideas you can make. I show you exactly how to make it (in just a minute or two) in one of my Facebook Live tutorials that feature 5 modern, minimal wreath DIYs that anyone can make – you can find the single-stem wreath demo at the 5-minute mark.
8. Minimalist Felt Boxwood Wreath
This wreath was a holiday favourite for a few years in our house. Using an embroidery hoop, felt pieces, and a hot glue gun, you can make one or more to display, especially around the holidays.
9. Faux Foraged Wreath (video tutorial)
Asymmetrical wreaths seem to be all the rage these days. The natural feeling of them and their uniquely shaped surface makes them one of my all-time favourites to make. I made this one during the fall season, but it’s versatility makes a great 3-season wreath.
10. Vintage Dried Floral Wreath
Last, but certainly not least, is this modern take on the vintage dried floral wreath. Of all the wreaths included in this list, this one will take a bit of extra time, if for no other reason than that it’s a bit messier putting all the pieces together. But the final results are absolutely worth it!
I hope you found at least one or two modern wreath DIYs that you may want to try this season. If nothing else, you’ll have some inspiration to motivate you to create something crafty at home for the weekend 🙂
Happy crafting 🙂
