There’s something special about walking into a home’s entryway that’s received the holiday treatment. This year, I’ve fêted our own foyer with a soft, natural palette of greens, browns, and warm neutrals – a cozy mix that feels calm, earthy and yet still festive. With simple greenery, rustic touches, and natural textures, the whole space leans into a woodland-inspired Christmas vibe – and I’m enjoying every bit of it.
Some spots are reminiscent of last year’s foyer displays (why fix what isn’t broken?) while others were refreshed using familiar favourites – a new spot to display a garland, an old wreath hung in a new way, and other subtle seasonal touches that bring the whole space alive.
If you’re just getting started and need some inspiration, here’s a full tour of how our foyer came together for this holiday season.

COZY NATURAL CHRISTMAS FOYER DECOR
As soon as you step through the front door, you are greeted with this corner of the foyer which remains one of the most grounding spots in the house.

The black spindle-back bench anchors the space with its clean, traditional silhouette, while the gallery wall above continues to bring warmth and personality through a curated mix of landscapes, sketches, and neutral-toned artwork.
(You can find the gallery wall prints HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE).

To add a soft touch of Christmas warmth, I’ve casually draped a muted red plaid throw blanket over the bench (SIMILAR THROW can be found HERE). It brings just enough seasonal colour to play beautifully with the earthy greens used throughout the foyer. Festive, but still subtle, keeping the natural palette intact throughout.

Hanging next to the bench is this green holiday swag with this lush brown velvet ribbon tied along the top. I’ve hung this here each year for the past few years, and never tire of its natural elegance.

Directly across is this buffet table which carries the heart of this year’s natural decorating theme. Instead of clearing away the previous season’s decor (like the ceramic pitcher or summer-themed print), nearly everything stayed, giving the space a relaxed, layered look that helped transition the space into winter quite effortlessly.

The main star of the show is this fluffy faux cedar wreath hanging from the mirror – almost floating above the vignettes on the table below.

Instead of hanging the wreath from a ribbon (attached to the top or back of the mirror as I’ve done in the past), I decided to try using a suction cup – alas, I’ve gone through a couple of them and still find it an imperfect solution, so I can’t recommend a specific one (while this one remains attached, after a few days, I noticed that it had slid a few inches down the mirror 🙁 But I keep reattaching (using the ‘Vaseline hack’ and hope for the best 🤞).

Just below and along one end of the table, this thrifted bowl filled with faux moss-covered pinecones and mini ornaments seems to be holding its one. The moss brings in another shade of green, subtle but full of texture, while the baubles add a bit of holiday sparkle.

(I purchased mine at a local shop and although I don’t see similar options online, I did find these natural alternatives on Etsy HERE).
Further down are these flowy faux greenery picks with pinecones attached. Last year, they formed the foundation of a holiday arrangement I created on our coffee table display. This year, I left the greenery in its original – and simple – glory.

Their long, soft branches drape beautifully over the lip of the pitcher, creating a slightly wild and woodland-inspired feel. The greenery adds depth, movement, and that unmistakable winter freshness – without looking overdone.

Layered behind the greenery is this barn sketch. It isn’t traditionally Christmas-themed, but its rustic charm fits perfectly into the natural palette of the foyer. In fact, the simplicity of the artwork keeps the whole vignette grounded and organic.

Tucked away – almost imperceptible – is this fluffy cedar swag on which I tied (another) brown velvet ribbon, keeping things still festive in this corner without screaming for attention.

Just a minimal touch of greenery keeps it visually connected to the rest of the decor while letting the most visual parts of the foyer shine. Sometimes the quietest corners help balance everything else.

If there’s one area that is particularly festive and fun, its this faux cedar garland framing these French pocket doors that lead to the rest of the house.

Rather than using two separate garlands – one on either side of the frame as I did last year – one long, lush look was created using two faux cedar garlands that meet in the middle, and mounted directly on the underside of the door frame held up by six Command Hooks (clear, medium).

Where the garlands meet in the center, a rich brown velvet ribbon hides (or masks, somewhat) the ends of each garland, adding a warm, elegant touch.

To add a soft hint of Christmas colour, muted red faux berries were tucked throughout – the same stems from this DIY holiday swag – that I’ve used for various holiday arrangements each season.

The two garlands meeting in the middle (hidden with a bow) gives the entryway a beautiful, continuous line of greenery that’s visible from both rooms. It feels architectural and intentional – a simple change that makes the whole space feel special.

This is the first year I’ve hung a garland along the underside of the door frame, and I’m obsessed with how it turned out. It frames the space beautifully, and it was so much quicker to install. Focusing on just the underside meant I only needed one continuous garland instead of two. A lovely little moment created in half the time.
A NATURAL COZY START TO THE HOLIDAYS
This year’s foyer is warm, calm, and nature-inspired, full of greenery, soft textures, and organic details. Greens, browns, and neutrals truly come alive at Christmastime, and they gave this small but important space in our home a lovely holiday vibe.
Let me know which part speaks to you the most – and if a suction cup has ever betrayed you 😉
More to come!
Happy decorating,
