Do you have some old pickle jars or clear plastic bottles kicking around your home? Don’t throw them away! I’ve got a simple use for them that will elevate the look of your craft space, while keeping your small craft materials neatly organized. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to display and organize craft supplies using old jars and bottles.
Pull Out Those Hidden Gems
Let’s face it, not all craft materials are created equal. Some are beautiful all on their own. Others just aren’t.
Take those frayed or cut up pieces of fabric you’ve got from that last DIY, or that old hot glue gun covered in glue and bits of paper (ahem, or is that just me?).
Definitely, not for display 🙁
But, then again there’s that small collection of beautiful raw wood beads or those decorative & shimmery bags of sand – raw and beautiful. In my opinion, they are part of those hidden gems among our craft supplies that often only make their appearance once you’ve DIY’d or completed a project that’s all ready for display.
Of course, beauty – as they say – is all in the eye of the beholder.
Perhaps you’ve got a colourful collection of craft beads, paint markers, or jewelry findings that sets your heart aflutter about the creative process.
Whatever hidden gems you’ve got, why not personalize your craft space by surrounding yourself with these objects of beauty? Doing so will not only ‘prettify’ your craft space, but keep you inspired, too.
How To Organize Craft Supplies Using Old Jars & Bottles
If you have a storage system like mine – which is IKEA’s Kallax Storage Shelving (affiliate link) – you may have both open and closed storage options. This is the perfect way to display and organize craft supplies using old jars and bottles.
Here is some of my collection of old mason jars, pickle jars and clear plastic juice bottles.
If you’re using the same kind of containers, you can either keep the lids or remove them entirely. It’s up to you. If you prefer the lid, but dislike the colour, simply spray paint it to your desired colour.

FIRST, gather up those craft supplies that you’d like to display. Mine happen to be these raw wood beads, decorative pebbles and sand, along with a pack of skewers.
NEXT, once you’ve gathered your craft supplies, place them into the corresponding jars.
TIP: Make sure you can easily access your craft supplies once they’re in those old jars and bottles. Whether you need to ‘pour’ out your supplies to access them or reach in with your hand or fingers, the opening at the top should be large enough, either way.
Display Those Hidden Gems
Now, simply arrange your craft supplies in any way you like 🙂
I simply loved repurposing these old jars and bottles into storage containers. Plus, being able to display my pretty craft supplies in this way really elevates this space. It makes me smile every time I walk into my craft room 🙂
I hope these simple craft room organization ideas has you inspired to keep your craft room, craft corner, or craft closet neat, tidy and pretty, too. After all, you deserve a relaxing little nook that’ll keep you inspired to create, decorate and prettify your home 🙂
Happy organizing 🙂

April 10, 2019 at 6:13 amThank you Debby. Sometimes, the best solutions are right under our noses. I always save large jars just in case I can repurpose them somehow and, in this case, they were the perfect way to display and store my craft supplies 🙂
