MY RECENT FAVOURITE AMAZON HOME FINDS
Here are my recent favourite Amazon home finds, in no particular order.
Magnetic File Pockets
I purchased these magnetic file pockets a couple of months ago to organize random papers that had no home of their own. After organizing our kitchen junk drawer, I couldn’t help but take note of the papers attached to our fridge that needed to be tidied up, too.
Things like our garbage collection schedule, upcoming travel confirmations, a flyer advertising a new craft store (a keeper, for sure), I needed a way to tidy up the clutter. So when I saw how someone online had organized her paper clutter using these pockets, I decided to buy them for my little mess, too.
These pockets are thick and sturdy and hold up remarkably well.
Honey Dipper and Stir Stick
I owe this find entirely to my husband. Traditionally made of wood, this stainless steel honey dipper alternative (and others like it) is perfect for dipping into a honey jar. It grips the honey, which gets sucked into the grooves and as you stir the stick into your tea or coffee, the honey just melts clean off.
Use it for honey or any kind of syrup, too.
I must admit, I wasn’t sure about it at first (why not just use a spoon?), but this tool grips and melts off the honey better than any spoon. Plus, I find you can control how much to drizzle on toast or over oatmeal. Definitely a nice little find for us.
Simple Sliding Drawer (for Produce Storage)
I can’t tell you the number of times that our potatoes have begun to rot because I had no proper storage for them. Not to mention the onions and garlic! I eventually stumbled upon this simple, metal sliding drawer (quite a while back, actually) and it has been such a food saver for us ever since.
(You can find a similar one here and also here).
It does everything it should: It’s made of metal mesh, so it’s wipeable, and it gives potatoes, onions, and garlic (and other non-refrigerated produce) a chance to breathe.
The drawer comes with a removable divider. I like to use it to keep my potatoes and onions and garlic separated.
It’s stackable, too, if you have or need more storage for your produce.
For hubby and I, however, it’s the perfect size as it forces me to buy only what we need (rather than a huge bag of potatoes). Definitely one of my favourite, cost-effective purchases.
Compostable, Unbleached Parchment Paper
If you do a lot of baking or roasting vegetables, but don’t like using aluminum foil (which may leach into food), you may want to check out this compostable, unbleached parchment paper (and similar ones like it).
When you’re done using it, you can just crumple it up and put it directly into your compost.
(In case you’re looking, we use these ‘Bag To Earth’ compost storage bags that you can place directly in your freezer. No more smelly compost under the kitchen sink).
Produce Scrubbers
These may not be all that unique for some, but I decided to purchase this 2-pack of produce scrubbers with nylon bristles over ones with natural fibres. Inexpensive and dishwasher safe, I also like that they are a neutral colour. I use them for potatoes and root vegetables primarily and they do a great job at removing a lot of the soil on the surface.
Heat Resistant Silicone Pocket
If you use hot styling tools regularly – and have some that are pretty ancient, like me – then you may find this one really useful. You won’t need to wait for your straightener or curling iron to cool down before putting it away. You can place your hot styling tool directly into the pocket and put it away immediately without burning anything in your drawers.
I used to leave my tools out to cool as I rushed off to work, but found I never put them away at the end of the day (what was the point?). And as the saying goes, clutter begets clutter. Now things feel so much more tidy and organized.
Outlet Concealer & Cord Organizer (with Power Bar)
For a long time, I wanted to find something that would organize this exposed area of our living room. With cords going every which way, I needed to tidy things up. This ultra-thin outlet concealer includes a power bar, 3-foot cord, and adhesive strips to keep the primary cord tidy. (There are also other versions, including one with an 8-foot extension cord/power bar and other combinations that may suit your needs).
I really love how much tidier things are in this area now.
I can also access the power bar which I’ve got tucked away behind our speaker.
Note: The outlet concealer comes in both “universal” and “standard” sizes, so check the size of your outlet and compare it to the measurements they provide under their product description. I chose the “universal” size since their “standard” was a bit too small.
100% Cotton Flannel Wipes
I may be in the minority, but I’m not a fan of microfibre cloths. As someone who sheds her hair as much as any cat sheds its fur, my hair (and my cats’ fur) gripped so much to our old microfibre cloths that they just wouldn’t let go! It was such a nuisance to clean with. Not to mention, microfibre is made of microplastics and tends to release particles not visible to the naked eye.
So after doing some research, I decided to go back to basics by purchasing these 100% cotton flannel cloths. I already have these other cotton terry cloths (with a slightly rougher texture), and purchased these softer flannel cloths for cleaning and wet-dusting reflective surfaces like mirrors and appliances.

Cotton Waffle Weave Duvet Cover
I shared this one in my recent ‘home updates’ post, but just had to add it to this list well. I love a textured look in rugs and throws and all sorts of home decor. Waffle weave is on that list as well.
So when I was looking for a new bedspread, I stumbled upon this duvet cover and decided to purchase it for our bedroom. It’s a soft cotton waffle weave (that comes in 14 colours) and is comfortable to sleep under.
It’s a good alternative to muslin/gauze waffle weave bed covers which are far too delicate when there are pets in the house. I know from experience! (We had a gorgeous muslin waffle weave cover in our guest bedroom that, over time, was shredded by our cats). This cotton alternative gives me the look of muslin, but the strength of a cotton bedspread.
6′ Artificial Olive Tree
If you are looking for an artificial tree that looks real, then you may want to take a look at this latest addition to our bedroom. It’s a 6-foot olive tree that is lifelike in both shape and colour.
As some of you already know, I’m fond of the no-maintenance artificial tree. I know, I know. Plant-lovers everywhere are cringing! But for those of us who have a black thumb, a life-like synthetic tree is the next best thing. It’s a lovely way to add a bit of “life” indoors without the upkeep!
Well, I hope you enjoyed this little round-up of some of my recent favourite Amazon home finds. I love sharing these random items that make everyday living easier and more homey, too.
Happy nesting,
