I’ve been doing a little experimenting with some of my silk flowers lately. With Spring just around the corner, I’m eager to get a head start and maybe even hurry the season along (a girl can dream, can’t she?). But while I must – grudgingly – admit that I don’t have the power to make Spring appear at will – sniff, sniff – I still want a feeling of Spring at home. So I dug around my stash of faux flowers in the hopes of finding that perfect mix of colour that could breathe a little life into our winter-weary home. Today I’m sharing the fruit of my experiments: a simple Spring flower arrangement, 3 different ways. And each one takes just 3 minutes or less to create 🙂
Trust me, it’s THAT easy.
MATERIALS
- Silk Flowers
- Glass containers
- Wire clippers (as needed)
- Jute twine
- Scissors (as needed)
- Tape
After poking around my faux flower collection, I decided on a pastel palette – with ONE exception:
I couldn’t help sneaking in that juicy orange colour. It seemed like a nice contrast to the pastel.
I also chose to play around with these glass vessels: 3 vintage-inspired milk glasses, a round glass vase, and cloche (i.e., glass dome).
SIMPLE SPRING FLOWER ARRANGEMENT, 3 DIFFERENT WAYS
Arrangement #1: Vintage-Inspired Milk Glasses
For this arrangement, I’ve grouped together 3 milk glasses. These are small, so I decided to group them together for added impact.
Once I laid out my flowers, I began to add them, one-by-one, into the milk glasses.
LAST STEP: Add in that delicious pop of orange colour!
Tip: When creating a simple spring flower arrangement using multiple containers, make sure to spread out your flowers so that each type/colour is found in each vessel. This creates harmony within the overall arrangement.
Arrangement #2: Round Glass Vase
For this arrangement, I chose this simple round vase.
Using the same flowers, I began adding them in, one type at a time.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Those pretty orange flowers – the icing on the cake 🙂
Tip: When adding flowers into a round vase, place each type on opposing sides, spreading them out evenly around the vase. Then, go ahead and play around with the arrangement, creating angles as you like.
Arrangement #3: Cloche
For this arrangement, I chose to try my hand at displaying the same arrangement, but this time, inside this cloche.
Taking the arrangement directly out of the round glass vase, I grouped the flowers together into a single bouquet.
Taking some jute twine, tie the stems together.
For this display, I decided to hang the bouquet upside down inside the cloche. Taking the jute ends, I fed them through the hole located at the top.
Then I taped down the twine and snipped off the excess.
If you decide to do the same, make sure to use tape with strong adhesion, especially if there is some weight to the bouquet. It’s best to keep the bouquet light or – alternatively – use just one large floral stem that’s easy to attach.
NOTE: If you don’t have a cloche with a hole at the top, simply tape the jute ends on the underside along the top of the dome.
The final result is a really unique way to display your Spring flowers.
And that’s it! Which arrangement do you prefer?
I don’t know, but I’m leaning toward the vintage milk glass grouping. There’s something wild about this arrangement that I like. You can even add a ribbon or jute twine for added rustic appeal, like I did below. I discovered that it creates the perfect floral vignette for our console table.
I hope you got some inspiration from this Simple Spring Floral Arrangement, 3 Different Ways. I had fun experimenting using the same floral pieces and even got some more ideas about how I want to welcome Spring into our home this season.
Happy decorating 🙂
