Weaving can often feel intimidating for beginners – I know, ’cause I’ve been there. I think it’s because there seems to be no end of weaving techniques, patterns, and designs to learn. But, really, once you’ve got a good foundation, all the rest gradually clicks into place. That’s why today I wanted to take some of that intimidation out by sharing some easy-to-follow steps on wall weaving basics for absolute beginners.
In this tutorial, you’ll learn:
- The Basic Supplies Needed To Start A Weaving Project
- How To Set Up A Weaving Loom
- Some Basic Weaving Techniques
- How To Prepare Your Weaving For Hanging
Once you’ve acquired some wall weaving basics, you’ll soon discover just how much creative potential there is in this craft. Whether you are a modernist, a minimalist, a farmhouse fan, Scandi or boho, you can create any number of designs, sizes, and styles to suit your home decor aesthetic. Here is just a taste of some of my own weaving experiments these past few years:
- DIY Weaving Techniques: 5 Simple Ways To Add Texture (neutral and minimal)
- Weaving Techniques: How To Make Waves (boho and earthy)
- 3 Mini Weavings, 2 Techniques (cute with pops of color)
So if you’re ready to explore the craft of wall weaving, go on and check out the full tutorial on the Sustain My Craft Habit blog, where I share how to create a DIY Woven Wall Hanging from start to finish.
Happy weaving 🙂
