I’ve always loved gifts wrapped in brown paper, especially those that offer an interesting twist. There’s something nostalgic and lovely about presents wrapped in paper, don’t ya think? That’s why today I wanted to pop in and share four simple brown paper gift wrap ideas that’ll spruce up your holiday gift giving this season. Using recycled brown paper, some acrylic paint, and some creative fun with the kiddos (if you so choose), you’ll make gift wrapping less of a chore and more of a time to create and have some fun while doing it.
Ready to give these brown paper gift wrap ideas a try? Let’s get started!
Four Simple Brown Paper Gift Wrap Ideas
THE STEPS
Step 1: Gather Old Brown Paper Bags
For this DIY you can use any brown paper, including craft paper, postal paper, or, in my case old brown paper gift bags from gifts gone by.
Step 2: Deconstruct Brown Paper Bags
First, remove the handles from the bag. These are glued on and easy to remove with a little patience. It takes just 5-10 seconds and you can remove one of the handles easily by peeling off the paper that’s glued to the bag and that keeps the handles in place.
Next, unstick all the parts folded and glued along the bottom of the bag.
Step 3: Wrap Your Gifts
Cut the bag in half.
Then wrap your gifts as you normally would.
Step 4: Paint Your Gifts
Taking some acrylic paint and a brush, paint on the top side of the gift. I chose four different patterns.
Simple Brushstrokes.
Simple Stars (or are these snowflakes? You be the judge.)
Cookie Cutter Tree.
Diagonal Stripes.
Step 5: Add Ribbons
Then wrap each gift with your ribbon of choice.
And voila! You’ve got four simple brown paper gift wrap ideas that are lovingly handmade and pretty, too 🙂
Happy gift-wrapping 🙂
