20 Eco-Friendly Gift Ideas (for anyone on you list!)

Nov. 30, 2020

Eco-Friendly Gift Ideas for anyone on your list! Below, you’ll find twenty useful – and beautiful – gift ideas for those with low-waste living in mind.

~The following contains affiliate links at no extra cost to you. See my full disclosure policy.~

When the term ‘green’ first began growing in popularity 20 years ago, there really wasn’t much choice out there for the average consumer.

Fast forward to today and there’s now a burgeoning industry of eco-friendly products.

Not to mention, there are so many pretty ones, too!

But, I digress

I’m certainly not a perfect example of a low-waste lifestyle by any means! BUT, I have increasingly added/replaced household items that are healthier and friendlier to both our environment and ourselves.

Last year, I shared some of my favourite natural cleaning products in a Facebook Live video called “What’s In My Green, Cleaning Caddy?” It was fun to share and I hope to do a follow-up with some of my other go-to products in the not-too-distant future.

In today’s blog post, I want to offer some practical, eco-friendly gift ideas, some of which I personally own and some of which I’d like to try myself 🙂

Each of the items on this list are simple, affordable products that are great for anyone on your list. Perfect stocking stuffers and any-occasion gifts!

NOTE: Amazon links don’t always transfer directly to your country’s page, so wherever possible, I’ve included the name of the brand that I use or recommend below so you can do a quick search, when needed!

20 Practical Eco-Friendly Gift Ideas for Anyone on Your List

1. Wool Dryer Balls

I did a full review of the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of using Wool Dryer Balls (including the brand I use, called BrioLiving), outlining the cost and health benefits of using natural, undyed wool dryer balls for your laundry.

But you can also find a wide variety of other natural, wool dryer balls on Amazon as well.

2. Stainless Steel Straws

Before purchasing stainless steel straws myself, my initial concern revolved around the cleaning of them. But my set came with a bristle brush cleaner that slides easily inside and cleans it so well! Surprise of surprises for me 🙂 I highly recommend them.

3. Beeswax Vegetable Wrap

Out of sheer curiosity, I purchased these Abeego beeswax vegetable wraps to see what the hype was about.

The Claim:  Beeswax offers a breath-able layer of ‘skin’ on your vegetables, ensuring they last much longer in your fridge than with regular plastic wrap.

The Results? They actually do extend the life of your vegetables. This is the perfect gift for those of us who buy too many veggies and don’t always get to eating them in a timely manner!

4. Glass Food Storage

We’ve been using glass food storage (instead of plastic) for a few years now.

But now I’ve got my eye on this beautiful bamboo lid set! If these ones aren’t quite your style, there are plenty of others on Amazon to choose from.

5. French Coffee Press

For years, we had a serviceable French Press that we used all the time – like ALL THE TIME! But, at some point, butter-fingers over here (me!), dropped it. Ack! So, after doing some research on the best ones out there, the Bodum brand kept popping up, especially the Bodum Chambord Coffee Press, which comes in a few different colour options.

Of course, there are loads of other French Coffee Press options on Amazon as well.

6. Silicone Food Storage/Snack Bags

Silicone food storage/snack bags are a great replacement for plastic. They are re-usable, tough, and can often be used in the process of boiling/cooking your food as well.

Stasher brand (pictured here) has gotten some amazing reviews and can be found on Amazon (along with a video show-casing it’s versatility). Stasher’s not the only brand out there, of course, so check out these alternative options –> Silicone Food Storage/Snack Bags.

7. Ceramic Coffee/Tea Mug

A perfectly stylish option with bamboo lid and handle with plenty of colour options, too!

8. KeepCup

In keeping with my hot beverage theme, the KeepCup keeps popping up in my searches and in my feed. Have I been out to lunch or what!?

There are SO many types, too, that work equally well for both the coffee and tea drinker on-the-go! Check out these re-usable mug options here.

9. Kitchen Scrub Brush Set

I have been on the look-out for some beautiful and natural options for doing the dishes (NOT my favourite chore) and found this beautiful set on Amazon.

Of course, I stumbled on some more here, as well. So many to choose from!

10. Wooden Bristle Hair Brush

I have been using this Urban Spa Hair Brush for a few years and it’s one of my favourites. The pros of using wooden bristles: conditions hair, massages the scalp gently, and it is plastic-free!

If you are unable to order this one specifically, not to fret! There are plenty to choose from right here!

11. Silicone Sponge & Scrubber

While I have been transitioning to using recycled kitchen sponges and scrubbers made of materials like walnut, far better would be something like silicone. The pros of using silicone over traditional kitchen sponges is that silicone is odor, mildew, and stain resistant.

For these reason, I’d say the Teal brand (pictured here) might be a good alternative or even some of these other options.

12. Beeswax Tapered Candles

I have a combination of various tapered candles, including beeswax. I just love the smell! While there are different varieties online, one stand-out, based on the reviews and the varying colour options available, has got to be the Hyoola brand – check out their Amazon store front and see what I mean.

13. Dr. Bronner’s Soap Gift Set

I have been using Dr. Bronner’s multi-purpose liquid soap for years! It is so gentle and hypoallergenic that you can use it to wash your face, hair, body and even use it to wash the dishes, laundry and more!

It’s really quite the versatile, and environmentally-friendly product. If you’re looking to give a gift, here’s the perfect Gift Set (unscented too)!

14. Bamboo Makeup Brush Set

Bamboo is a great alternative to plastic and is one of the fastest-growing plants on the earth. Both good reasons to think about swapping out your plastic products with bamboo.

For more options, take a look at these other bamboo brush sets.

15. Bamboo Razor – unisex

So while I was on the hunt for bamboo products, I came across this bamboo unisex razor and was really impressed! The Bambaw brand has received some good reviews and is worth exploring further for their other products.

16. Reusable Fuzz Remover

So, full disclosure: I purchased this Gleener Fuzz Remover several months ago and have yet to use it! BUT, I am looking forward to testing it out on some of my older sweaters that have pilled.

I purchased the Gleener brand because it was on the ‘Amazon’s Choice’ list, making it an affordable option for me and, hopefully, you as well.

If the Gleener brand is not quite what you’re looking for, then check out these alternatives.

17. Coconut Bowls & Spoons Set

I just love the idea of sourcing natural materials for our dishes and cutlery. I have yet to go down the rabbit-hole (so to speak), but have found some extremely positive reviews for the Coco Soul Brand that you can find on Amazon OR look for similar alternatives here.

18. Organic Linen/Cotton Napkins

I’ve always been a fan of organic cotton and linen. And while there are several options I could recommend, when it comes to affordable, beautiful gift ideas, then I don’t think you can go wrong with re-usable cloth napkins.

Any cloth napkins will do, whether linen or cotton. Both would make beautiful additions to any tablescape and for any occasion.

19. Burt’s Bees Shampoo & Wash

Everyone knows about Burt’s Bees! Since it’s start in 1984 as a candle-making outfit using leftover beeswax, it has grown into what we know of it today: beauty products, kitchen products, and, of course, candles 🙂

20.Biodegradable Phone Cases

As my current iPhone case begins its unglamorous descent into a misshapen mess (it’s starting to deform from having been removed and put back on several times!), I’ve been exploring these biodegradable options.

I’ve read some great reviews featuring Pela, a Canadian brand on Amazon that has been among the pioneers in this industry, and I’ve been really impressed.

See Pela’s Canadian site, US site, UK site, or European Union site.

I hope this round up of eco-friendly gift ideas has you excited about just some of the ways you can give a unique gift that’s low-waste, too 🙂
