We’re just settling into September around here and, with it, all the telltale signs of fall: crisp mornings, cozy evenings, and that golden afternoon light. This week, I’m excited to walk you through our home all dressed up for the season – think warm, earthy tones, natural textures, and a neutral colour palette of camel, rust, terracotta, olive, and brown. So grab your coziest throw and let me take you on a Warm & Neutral Fall Home Tour!

WELCOME TO MY WARM & NEUTRAL FALL HOME TOUR!
FRONT DOOR – HANDMADE WREATH
Before stepping inside, I had to bring back a favourite handmade piece from last year: my DIY maple leaf wreath. I shared this simple tutorial last year and loved it so much that I’m reusing it again this season.

The warm-toned faux maple leaves in muted rust tones adds instant charm and colour on our front door. It’s a cheerful nod to the season that looks and feels realistic, too.

Sometimes, the best decorations are the ones you love enough to bring back year after year – and this wreath is definitely one of those pieces for me.
FRONT FOYER
As you step inside, the foyer sets the tone for the rest of our home. I wanted it to feel both welcoming and grounded in nature.

Tucked next to our spindle back bench is this thrifted basket filled with a couple of oversized pinecones (you can find similar ones here and here) – adding instant charm and texture. In fact, pinecones were the jumping off point in this year’s autumn decor, making their appearance all throughout our home.

On the bench, an olive and gold striped scarf is draped casually over the back, adding just a touch of softness and warmth.

It’s the purrrr-fect little spot for a curious cat to hang out and stay awhile 😊🐱

Directly across from our bench is a buffet table that we use for our entryway storage. It features a layered collection of items: a caramel-coloured DIY lamp, a stack of books, and an oversized pinecone perched on top – the kind of statement vignette I love.

On the far end of the buffet is a framed barn sketch – a summer find while antiquing – next to this vintage ceramic pitcher filled with soft brown faux mums (an Amazon find!) – understated, but so pretty.

Hanging near the front door at the end of the hall, I’ve styled this straw hat – hung there this past summer – and a couple of scarves. Nothing fancy, just a bit of interest to warm up this part of our foyer.

These cozy and neutral fall decorating ideas help our foyer feel curated but not overly styled – a space that gently ushers you into the rest of our home.
LIVING ROOM

Stepping into the living area of our great room, I’ve added just a few cozy accents and natural materials. A warm, minimalism that still feels layered somehow.

On our coffee table, I’ve added these ruddy faux wildflowers (alternative colours are also available here and here) in a black vase. They’re paired with a large shallow dish, two book stacks topped with coasters in a thrifted wood bowl, a beeswax candle, and soap stone that stores extra matches.

These little groupings are some of my favourites – simple, affordable, and easy to mix and match.
Our textiles have not changed. They bring out the same coziness they did the rest of the year and blend beautifully with our autumnal accents. They include these light brown and black linen pillow covers, a low geometric pillow accent, a charcoal black plaid throw, and a graphic black, white, and gold throw blanket that adds an edgy vibe in this mostly neutral space.

Just across the coffee table, next to our television, I’ve reused this single stem eucalyptus (from last year’s more colourful fall tour), adding visual interest without a lot of fuss.

Pinecones make another appearance here as well. This time, two large ones are nestled in this black bowl between our armchairs. Another subtle nod to the season without overpowering our space.

Behind the chairs, our console table holds a few thoughtful accents. Nothing too fussy: a black vase with a single sparse stem, a book stack, small vintage dish with a swirl of rust tones, and these DIY beeswax candles (so easy to make) placed next to a prayer plant in a terracotta pot.

These earthy fall colours add that natural richness I love without leaning into anything too bold or overpowering.
DINING ROOM
Directly behind the living area, our dining space follows the same natural, grounded aesthetic.

On the dining table, I’ve kept things minimal with a charcoal geometric vase holding a grouping of these faux sparse branches (the same used on the console table) accompanied by a small bowl of mini pinecones and rust-coloured dried nuts – warm, earthy, and a little bit sculptural.

The buffet table is styled simply with another large pinecone in a thrifted wood bowl, a few of my handmade beeswax candles laid on their side – for a bit more colour – and another prayer plant in a terracotta pot.

It’s a soft, subtle moment that fits well within our neutral fall home decor. Together, these small touches create a cohesive look with pieces that feel naturally warm.
