When you have a week off for a ‘stay-cation’ with little to no agenda, you never know how your time will turn out. At first, my mind focused only on two words: ‘hello, freedom!’ But soon enough, it became apparent that the weather was going to be beautiful which opened up a world of possibility. The temperatures were warm, the sun big and bright, and the outdoors as green and lovely as anyone could hope for. The weather truly set the tone for what was a surprisingly productive few days with loads of organizing, cleaning and tending to all the usual responsibilities around the home. And, truth be told, the week was heavily laden with – like a thick creamy iced cappuccino – a heavy dose of downtime. And downtime is what I’ll continue to seek for a wee bit longer as I take a break from blogging until September. But don’t forget to stay in touch by connecting with me on facebook, twitter, and pinterest where I’ll be posting and pinning my little heart out. You can also check back in September or simply subscribe to receive fresh blog posts by email by clicking the ‘Subscribe Via Email’ link located in the sidebar of this homepage. Until then, my friends, here are a few of my favourite scenes from my week of stay-cation bliss.
Gardening
What would a week home be without a little gardening? Now, keep in mind that I am not the green thumb in this household. Hubby is usually the one out here, sweating away. But with a week off, I was eager to join him in the great outdoors. Truth: I was so sore the next day 😉 But it was well worth it. It is great to see how our gardens – just a few seasons in the making – are coming along.
This is our ‘living fence’ at the back end of the backyard.
The growth is still in progress. We hope the chain link fence will be completely covered in a few years.
On the other side of our fence is green space and a public walking trail. We’ve planted Virginia Creepers and some clumps of flowers there. Makes it a pretty little space to walk past. Hubby has a few more plans for that side, but for now, it’s coming along quite nicely.
While the results of our efforts are yielding much, gardening is definitely dirty work!
The best cure for spending the afternoon engaged in hard, physical labour? A cold and creamy iced cappuccino.
Yarn Store Shopping
Once some of the harder work was accomplished, I rewarded myself with a trip to one of my new favourite yarn stores. It did not disappoint!
Paper yarn!
I was like a kid in a candy store – bought some goodies, of course.
I cannot wait to add all these delicious yarns to my weavings!
Napoleon’s Shining Moments
What’s a week off without some silly moments courtesy of our cat, Napoleon.
It’s a stand-off, folks!
‘Let Me Out – I wanna garden, too!’
“This ol’ thing? I just put on the first thing in my closet – tux and tails, of course.”
Well, that was my week in a nutshell. I hope your August has been enjoyable so far and that it continues to bring some rest, peace, and a good dose of joy.
Until September, my friends!
P.S. If you have any suggestions for what you’d like to see come September, I’d love to hear it! Don’t be shy. Speak your mind below 🙂
