Cozy Winter Decorating Ideas In January ❄️

Decorating after Christmas can sometimes be challenging. Everything feels just a bit less cozy and a bit more bare. Here are some simple cozy winter decorating ideas that I often use to transition from Christmas to winter at home.

LAYER IN TEXTILES

Here, in Ontario, Canada, temperatures can sometimes dip down to -40 degrees Celsius with the windchill. Brrr! So nothing feels more cozy and warm than layering in textiles like throw blankets, pillows, and rugs.

Layering in chunkier and textured textiles not only looks cozy, but keeps you warm on those cooler winter nights.

CANDLES & TWINKLE LIGHTS

With daylight hours getting shorter this season, try keeping your candles and twinkle lights out just a little bit longer to give you a little extra light and warmth at night.

WINTER GREENS & NATURAL ELEMENTS

Bringing the outdoors in is always a great way to keep your space feeling warm and cozy.

For this reason, I don’t always put away all my Christmas greenery come the new year.

This includes:

– Mini Trees

– Wreaths

– Small Greenery, such as pine, spruce, or fir cuttings or branches

Sprinkling these items throughout your home will prevent your space from feeling too bare after the holidays.

A DUSTING OF ‘SNOW’ WHITE DECOR

Finally, there’s something uplifting about using white in your home during the winter.

Like a light dusting of snow, a white throw blanket, white fuzzy rug, white vase, candles or twinkle lights, is a lovely way to bring in the outdoors, while keeping things warm and cozy indoors.
