Life Lately + Summer Blog Schedule

Hi Friends! The weather’s been a bit hot and humid lately, but we’ve managed to stay cool with the shades drawn and the A/C on. In fact, we’re enjoying an extra long weekend and so I thought what better time than now to give you a peak inside my life lately as well as a heads-up about my upcoming summer blogging schedule.

So what’s a hot summer without spending some time outdoors? Hubby and I have been enjoying our outdoor seating space a lot more this season. The colourful curated outdoor patio makeover that I recently shared with you on the blog and on my YouTube Channel (here) has made all the difference!

Hubby and I also took a few days off recently to do some wine tasting! I’ve written about our experiences in wine country during our road trip to Niagara-On-The-Lake, but this time, we traveled a little closer to home to Prince Edward County, a smaller region dotted with lovely little towns and wineries.

That’s me (trying to keep the sun out of my eyes!) in front of the Waring House Inn/Restaurant, PEC.

Some of my favourite wineries included Huff Estates (for their whites), Sandbanks (for their reds) and the Lighthall Vineyards (for their wine and cheese tastings – yum!). We also had to stop and explore the beauty of the modern outdoor sculpture garden at the Oeno Gallery right next door to Huff Estates <3

After any kind of traveling – when I’ve indulged in great wine and delicious food – my thoughts often return to making healthier choices at home – I think it’s only natural. So lately, I’ve been reading The Supercharged Hormone Diet by Naturopath, Dr Natasha Turner, which explains the link between the health of our hormones and our bodies. I’ve also been watching LOADS of YouTube videos on health and fitness (while snacking, of course – argh!). Some of my recent favourites are Dr Eric Berg and Joanna Soh. I’m feeling inspired!

Next to my personal health, I’ve also been motivated to continue creating a healthier home.

I’ve been using mainly natural cleaners for years now, but I still have a ways to go. After seeing all the interest in my recent posts on using all-natural DIY solutions, I decided to do an inventory of all my alternative cleaning solutions and to share my fave products + DIY ideas with you on FB Live – coming soon! (You can check out my other Facebook Live videos in my Facebook video gallery).

In the meantime, here are a few DIY solutions to get you started:

Of course, it’s not a summer for this gal without having at least one or two craft projects on the horizon. Recently, I started weaving again and have been working on this fun, colour-block weave that I’ll be adding to my future Etsy shop (yep, this gal’s got Etsy dreams!). It’ll be all handmade goodness for the home 🙂

My current work in progress…

In the meantime, if you want to peak through my recent Etsy finds, here they are:  I’m crushing on this textured, handwoven pillow, along with these natural hemp linen towels (surprisingly inexpensive), and this gorgeous modern macrame wreath. So, so lovely!

Summer is such a creative and relaxing time for me, but I wish there were still more hours in the day to accomplish everything! Just plug me into a wall socket somewhere and charge me up, please 😉

Okay, back to reality!

To carve out a little more time to get some projects on the back-burner done, I’ll be slowing down my blog posting schedule for the summer. While I normally take August off, I decided this year to change things up. I love the little community we have here as well as on Facebook and YouTube, so I’ve decided to post every other Monday during July and August instead – this way I’ll keep in touch throughout the summer.

Slowing down and taking time to rest is so incredibly important, but I also value all of you – my lovely readers – so very much! You are the engine of this little blog and you continually inspire me to find new ways to make crafts, decor and DIY accessible and fun 🙂

Here’s to slowing down & staying creative.

It looks like you had a great time in wine country. It is always fun to get away and see new things. Jelica, I too am going to slow things down this summer and just enjoy my surroundings. You of course have the perfect spot for that with your lovely patio makeover.

I certainly did, Mary! We had great weather and it was just so, so relaxing. I can’t get enough of it (and that’s not the wine talking 😉 ). Here’s to slowing down for the summer, enjoying our surroundings, and counting our blessings 🙂
