As 2021 begins, I’m taking a moment to share your 10 favourite blog posts of 2020 from A Pretty Fix!

2020 has been an interesting year, to say the least. With everyone spending more time at home, we also spent more time online. My blog was visited more in 2020 than in any previous year. I think this was, in part, because many of you (myself included) went online searching for ways to make your homes as cozy and comfortable as possible during a difficult year.

Whatever the reason, I want to take this moment to thank each and everyone of you. Whether you are a new reader or someone who’s been following the blog since the beginning, it’s been a joy to have you along for the ride. Without you, I would not be as inspired to continue sharing all that I create, make or decorate at home. I am truly thankful.

10. Half Moon Clay Hangers

Some of you loved (and even asked about on Instagram!) these half moon DIY clay hangers. As my love of mixed media pieces grows, you can be sure I’ll be sharing more of the same in the new year.

9. Updating Our Guest Bedroom

As we spent more time at home this year, budget-friendly room updates were really important for most of us. And although this room was used just once this year, I was so happy to refresh this space 10 years after moving into our home. It needed a facelift!

8. 12 Modern Twine Crafts and Decor Ideas

Rustic, raw, and beautiful. Twine is one of my favourite crafting mediums and, it turns out, it’s yours as well. As I look to sharing more budget-friendly craft ideas, I’ll be posting even more stylish and simple DIY round-ups this year!

7. The EIGHT Items You Need to Start Weaving This Weekend

As weaving continues to rise in popularity among a new generation of creatives, it’s no surprise that this introduction to weaving made it into the top 10 list. As my own passion for creating fibre art grows, you can bet that I’ll be posting more weaving tutorials this year.

6. Circle Weaving for Beginners (Video Tutorial)

Speaking of weaving…this Facebook Live video tutorial was one of the most popular in 2019 so I decided to share that same tutorial on my blog and on YouTube in 2020. I was just learning how to ‘weave in the round’ (and still am) and was so excited to share this with all of you.

5. DIY Gallery Wall Bedroom Guide for Beginners (Blog & Video Tutorials)

Most of us love a good gallery wall, but it can seem so DAUNTING to execute one! I think that’s why this post was such a hit with readers on the blog as well as subscribers on YouTube. In both the blog post and video tutorial, I tackle how to create a basic gallery wall above your bed, two different ways.

4. Modern DIY Mini Air Dry Clay Pot

This was the first how-to tutorial on using air dry clay on the blog and it got an increasing amount of attention on Pinterest as the year progressed. I’m really loving the possibilities of this medium and will share more in the year to come.

3. Modern Boho Raffia Wreath DIY

In the early part of the year, I was restless (to say the least) and found myself drawn to raffia. I love its texture and the unpredictability of it. This wreath definitely got some attention and it’s by far one of my favourites from the year. I have more raffia in my craft stash so stay tuned!

2. How To Clean & Disinfect Driftwood for Crafting

One of the most gratifying tutorials that I share are those that are comprehensive yet beginner-friendly. This is one of them! It was THE MOST READ and MOST PINNED DIY tutorial from the blog this past year. Practical, useful and – with time and patience – simpler to execute than you might think.

1. Amazon Home Decor Finds Under $100

The most-read post on the blog last year was actually a group of FOUR POSTS that featured budget-friendly decor finds on Amazon, including:

Modern decor finds under $100
Mid-century decor & furniture finds (some under $100)
Bedroom decor finds under $100
Vintage-inspired decor finds under $100

Despite the unseemly price-hiking that accompanied online shopping last year, it also appeared that affordable home style had never been so accessible. (NOTE: If you decide to visit these posts this year, in some cases, prices have changed due to inflation and some items are ‘currently unavailable.’ But Amazon’s link converter should turn up some alternative options as you shop).
