I’m excited to finally be redecorating our master bedroom. It’s been over 13 years and I think it’s about time. Today I’ll be sharing how it looks currently and my plans for it, including my Master Bedroom Mood Board with shoppable links to give you some ideas for your own bedroom refresh.

MASTER BEDROOM MOOD BOARD INSPIRATION
Current Master Bedroom (the ‘Before’ Pics)
When we first moved into our home over 13 years ago, our master bedroom was one of the first rooms to get some basic furniture and bedding. It has remained virtually untouched ever since:
Directly opposite the bed and next to our IKEA Pax wardrobe is a small sitting area which will also get a bit of an update:
These photos were actually taken about 8 years ago, so the bedroom still looked reasonably ‘fresh.’
But over the years, we’ve really neglected the space quite terribly.
In fact (and this is really embarrassing), some of our so-called ‘fresh’ pieces have turned into our cats’ favourite play-things.

But while this must go (as if there was any question), our limited budget will keep me from changing out everything.
In order to keep things affordable for us, I’m leaving as much furniture as I can.
With the exception of our headboard and sitting area side table, we are keeping our bedside tables, IKEA Pax wardrobe, and corner armchair.
In fact, we don’t even have a proper bed, just a metal bed frame that we are keeping for the time being.
Just keeping it real with you!
Regardless, I remain optimistic that I can refresh our space by focusing on just 3 key items:
1. Bedding
2. Area Rug
3. Accessories
While it won’t be the kind of ‘transformation’ one sees on Instagram, it will be just enough to give our bedroom the update it so desperately needs.
