Welcome to my Serene Summer Living Room Tour (& Blog Hop)!

Of all the seasons, summer is my favourite time to create a calm and relaxing environment at home. After spring cleaning is done, I’m always eager to strip the house down of any excessive decor and just enjoy the essentials.
And, well – truth be told – Mr Fix (aka ‘hubby’) and I are just so dang tired of house projects and wanted to simply enjoy our space! After our basement renovations were done (and I finally had the Craft Space of My Dreams) we spent a TON of time de-cluttering, editing, reorganizing, donating and just getting our house back to normal again!
And now that it’s summer, we can FINALLY relax – ahhh 🙂
So today, I thought I would share the results with you: A Serene Summer Living Room Tour.
And it just so happens that I’m collaborating with my blogging pals to give you all a “Summer Living Blog Hop.” This means that you’ll have the chance to get your decor and DIY fix from some beautiful spaces today. (Just scroll to the bottom of this post to see all the other inspiring spaces in this Blog Hop).
But first, here’s a tour of my own living room space all decked out for summer.
Serene Summer Living Room Tour
It was quite by accident that I settled on this creamy white, wood, green & serene summer living room palette.

I originally thought I might change things up by saturating the space with some rich colours. But after de-cluttering our house in a major way this spring, I came to realize that what makes things the most restful for me is to keep things light and bright. So, I decided to stick to the essentials: natural whites, creams and neutrals.
In keeping with the restful theme of the space, I chose natural greens and watery blues as my ‘pop of colour.’ This was achieved primarily using artificial plants. I just love how it all turned out.

Because ours is an open concept space, I always have to consider our dining area in my decorating. I decided to keep things simple, adding only a vase with faux flowers, along with a couple of accessories on the buffet table.

Next to our dining area and directly behind our sitting area is our kitchen. Using the same faux plants, I added a bit of the outdoors in to add a subtle ‘pop’ of colour.

Our modern, minimal gallery wall is one of my favourite features in this space. I didn’t have to do much here except add a bit of greens to a vintage planter. The rest of the wall comes with its own pops of green in the prints themselves.

Finally, on the opposite end of the living room, behind these sitting chairs is a cubby wall display.

If you look REAL close, you’ll see a set of wall cubbies in the background…

These, too, got the serene summer style treatment with a couple of well-placed faux air plant accessories.

Serene Summer Living Room Tour – Final Thoughts
I hope you enjoyed taking the Serene Summer Living Room Tour. Keeping things simple with a creamy white tone-on-tone palette and mixing in watery blue and green plants added an instant feeling of relaxation into our space!

Don’t forget to check out all the gorgeous spaces of these talented bloggers below. I’ve already taken some design cues from them that I’m going to apply to some other spaces in my home, so be sure to look out for some of these this summer 🙂
