Spring Foyer Decorating Ideas: A Simple & Minimal Refresh
As regular readers of the blog know, my approach to decorating – let alone spring foyer decorating ideas – is to keep things simple: swap out foliage, add a few accents, and work with what I already own.
Over time, I’ve found that doing less creates a space that feels more like home to me. Just a slightly dressed up version.
So for our foyer this spring, I leaned into a familiar palette of greens (already part of our everyday decor), a hint of muted yellow (a go-to spring decor choice as I’ve shared in past spring home tours), and soft reds (not the norm for me). In fact, it was a simple vase of red tulips that became my starting point – and the only new addition – that helped set the tone for our foyer.
The first thing you see when walking through our front door is our seating nook that keeps our small foyer feeling open and airy.

This spindle back bench was a Wayfair find – tricky to put together, but the perfect (and practical) piece for this spot.
Above it, our gallery wall remains unchanged.

Rather than switching artwork seasonally – as I know some people like to do – I like art for arts’ sake and prefer to let other smaller accents do the seasonal ‘work’ for me.
(If you’re looking for impressionist-style outdoor-themed prints, you should be able to find each of the piece above: HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.)
Since I have no red throw blankets, I decided to add a lightweight red and black scarf for some colour. It’s a small detail, but it brings some texture to an otherwise basic black bench and ties in with the red tulips on the other side of the space.

The faux olive tree remains next to the bench. A staple that remains here year-round. Its soft green tone works well for any season.
(You can find this olive tree on Amazon Canada OR similar ones on Amazon’s international sites.)
Back on my wall is this goldenrod bouquet which I collected and dried myself a few seasons back. I love the muted yellow and natural bit of texture it brings to this small wallspace.

I reuse it year after year. It’s a simple reminder that seasonal decorating doesn’t always mean buying something new. Sometimes it’s about reusing pieces that still feel fresh.
Across from the bench is our foyer buffet table – a console and storage cabinet all rolled into one. It’s a practical piece that is the focal point for this season’s spring foyer decorating ideas: this vase of soft red tulips.

I spotted these ‘fringed’ tulips at the grocery store. I’d never seen this type of tulip before. They add just the right amount of colour and texture in our space.

If you love tulips but struggle to keep them looking their best, I shared all my tips in this post on how to make cut tulips last longer. Just a few key tips – really simple, I promise – that make a big difference.
(Note: If you have pets who cannot resist a fresh flower, then skip real tulips and go for faux – I shared some lovely faux flower options in this post. Tulips can be toxic. Fortunately, our cats tend to steer clear of fresh flowers (not sure why). All the same, I put these tulips in a closed room overnight, just in case).
The rest of our buffet table remains fairly unchanged. A simple vintage barn sketch, handmade bowl for keys, a favourite coffee table book, and a diy lamp complete the look. Once a surface works, I try not to overstyle it.

On the far end of the foyer – next to our front door – is a door leading into a tiny office space. Over time, it’s become one of my favourite spots to add a subtle seasonal detail. For spring, I’ve hung my go-to straw hat along with a muted yellow lightweight scarf.

Underfoot is one of my favourite rugs: this washable one from Ruggable. I’ve had it for a few seasons now and find it to be an extremely durable piece. It’s part of Ruggable’s “Re-Jute” line of rugs – the perfect runner for a foyer, mudroom and other hard working floor in the home.

It’s a quiet nod to the season – and the warmer days ahead – with light textures, soft colour – and nothing that feels overdone.

Wrapping Up: Spring Foyer Decorating Ideas & Tips
What I love most about these spring foyer decorating ideas is how little it actually took to make this area of the home feel fresh.
A few simple changes:
- Fresh tulips for colour
- A summer hat and couple of lightweight scarves for texture
- Reused decor that already feels familiar
Using what you already own is one of the easiest ways to refresh your space for spring without adding clutter. When you focus on pieces you truly love, everything comes together naturally.
Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the tour. I’ll be back soon with more spring decor and project ideas!
Happy spring,
