As the winter weather and snowfall continue to drag on here in eastern Ontario, Canada, I’ve been making some simple spring home style updates. Ever determined to bring on winter’s demise, I remain optimistic that it will come sooner than I think 🙂 And why not? There’s a lot of truth to the saying about March weather in these parts: “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” I can only hope that the month of March’s stormy start will end on a calm note.
So with that in mind – and much hope in my heart for better things to come – I wanted to give you some ideas for your own spring decorating this year, whatever the weather may be where you live.
SIMPLE SPRING HOME STYLE UPDATES
Welcome to our home, simply and minimally decorated for spring!
I made this all-season wreath last year and simply tied a white ribbon loosely around the base to dress it up this year.
See how to make an All-Season Wreath HERE.
As you walk into our front foyer you are met with a bench where you can remove your shoes. I dressed up the space with just a couple of simple seasonal touches.
I wanted to make something a little different on this wall next to our bench. This rustic wall swag seemed to be the perfect little touch of spring.
See how to make this Easy, 10-Minute Wall Swag HERE.
As is my habit for much of the year, I like to keep things spare and calm in our Great Room with lots of neutrals. This year is no different, with a few textiles, candles, and touches of greenery – all faux and easy to maintain – all throughout.
This floral arrangement was so simple to make. I shared a snapshot of the process on Instagram using tape to create a grid and inserted 3 types of faux stems to complete the look.
I decided not to change out our throw blankets as they are still rather lightweight and go well with our light and bright interior.
I kept things pretty spare in our kitchen as well with just a couple of candles and a bit of greenery on the kitchen island.
Last, but not least, is our dining space just behind our sofas. I’ve kept things much as I usually do with a bit of greenery to signal spring.
Thanks for popping by for this year’s simple spring home tour. As I did with last year’s spring updates, I shopped my home, moved things around a bit and re-styled or re-used some of my favourite decor to keep things feeling ‘new’ and fresh.
Wishing you all a lovely spring!

March 22, 2023 at 1:52 pmHey Sandy: We have the colour SW6106 all throughout our Great Room and our bedrooms. It’s just a basic ‘builder beige’ but it seems to have served us well. It’s a CIL Duo Brand (paint + primer), a Canadian brand I am happy to support. It’s an eggshell, low luster paint. Our main living area gets lots of natural light and I love the colour during the day. In the evening, there is a slightly violet undertone – not my favourite, but it works for us 🙂 Hope this helps. And stay warm!
