These past few weeks I’ve been busy incorporating pinecones throughout my home. Besides their natural beauty, they are quite possibly the easiest way to introduce autumn into the home with the least amount of expense. And since I have LOADS of pinecones, I thought I would welcome fall this year with these simple white pinecone decor ideas that I’m happy to share with all of you today 🙂
Why ‘white,’ you may ask?
Although white can sometimes feel cold, in my home it actually brightens and lightens up our surroundings rather beautifully. I have a lot of brown and wood tones in my furniture and flooring (which I love), but without something to contrast with, all those browns could appear a bit heavy and dark. And while dark may work beautifully in many homes, admittedly, I adore contrasts in general – whether it be in colour or style. And white, as well as tone-on-tone whites and creams, really provide that hit of interest I so crave.
In each of the following vignettes, the pinecones have been spray painted a variety of white and cream tones. The differences are subtle, but vary depending on how creamy or white I wanted them to appear. In each case, I’ll provide a link to the product I used so you can explore a little further.

Simple White Pinecone Decor Ideas
I love this DIY Pinecone Bowl Decor I recently introduced to my buffet table. It’s simple and casual and fits beautifully in this fall vignette.
- Spray Paint Used on Pinecones: Krylon Chalky Finish Spray Paint in Colonial Ivory + a sprinkling of Rustoleum 2X UltraCover Spray Paint in Gloss White

On A Tray
Here, I made a simple swap by replacing a small wooden bird with this pinecone. Simple, yet effective in completing this small vignette (notice the photographer in the reflection of the TV 😉 ).

On A Shelf
These floating shelves are one of my favourite design ideas. (See the tutorial here).
By simply swapping out a few items for these pinecones, I was able to introduce fall without tearing the whole decor scheme apart. Just a few small hits of autumn really goes a long way.

In A Wire Basket
One of my favourite ways to display pinecones is in a grouping like this one in this wire basket. I love how this modern geometric basket contrasts beautifully with the natural texture of the pinecones.

Incorporated Into A Tablescape
Although the white pumpkins take center stage in this tablescape, both the pinecones and antlers add texture and variety.
I love this tablescape because of all the possibilities I have to play with it as a base to which I can add other elements or colours.

October 11, 2017 at 5:25 amThank you, Mary! It’s probably been one of the easiest (and least expensive) seasons to decorate our home. For some reason, once the pinecones were spray painted, the rest of these vignettes came together effortlessly 🙂

October 11, 2017 at 7:42 pmI am seriously in love with your pine cones. Most of my home colors are coastal so white pine cones are perfect. I’ve done a bunch of white pumpkins and now I have to do pine cones. Telling you up front,no disrespect, I am so stealing this!

October 12, 2017 at 2:22 amI have tons of pine cones, every time we go for a walk we find some. I love the spray paint idea, as you know, I love whites as well. And easy little touches of Fall with these cuties are the best! The wreath is so stunning, I need to make one!

October 12, 2017 at 6:05 amUsing spray paint was a nice way to freshen things up and blended well with all the creams and whites in my home decor. The wreath itself has loose leaves inserted between the pinecones and can be easily removed and replaced by season-specific elements. It was also very easy to make, Katrin. Just pop on over to the tutorial to see how to make it 🙂 Take care!

October 13, 2017 at 3:38 pmYou’ve created such beautiful vignettes with our white painted pinecones, Jelica! I am swooning over your fabulous color block gallery wall, gorgeous! Your wreath is so pretty too, especially with the white ribbon. I could see the ribbon switched out with plaid, red, or metallics for the holidays – want one. Pinned to my Winter|Christmas Ideas Board.
