My 6-Year Blogiversary: Top 6 DIYs from A Pretty Fix

In honour of A Pretty Fix’s 6-year anniversary this month, I’m taking you into the A Pretty Fix archives and looking back on some of the most-read, most-watched posts and videos from the blog (including some sentimental favourites). In this week’s installment, I’m sharing the top 6 DIYs from A Pretty Fix!

Top 6 DIYs from A Pretty Fix - a look back at 6 years of blogging about crafts, decor and DIY!

In this line up, I’ve gathered the top 6 DIYs from A Pretty Fix that required more than just a skein of yarn or a darning needle to create. These typically involved crafting prep and even power tools!

So here goes, in no particular order:

THE TOP 6 DIYs from A Pretty Fix

1. Cubby Wall Display (2015)

This particular DIY remains one of my favourite creative displays at home. I remember struggling to figure out what to do with a long half wall that took up space in the middle of the hallway. But now, I absolutely love it! I’ve since removed the colour backing in each cubby (which is SO EASY to swap out, BTW) and continue to spruce it up seasonally.

2. How To Make a Basic Loom (2016)

This post went viral for a time (by this wee blog’s standards) and I was, initially, quite surprised. But with larger looms being so darn expensive, I knew that I had hit on something that people really appreciated learning.

I even followed it up with a second post showing how to add ‘legs’ to make it a standing loom.

3.  DIY Gallery Wall Guide for Beginners (2018)

Of all the decor additions I’ve made over the years, this gallery wall was one that had the greatest style impact. Once I added this gallery wall in our Great Room, my home finally began to feel like the modern space that I had always imagined in my mind.

You can find the full tutorial here, including a source list of each print and frames.

4.  Bedroom Gallery Wall for Beginners: Two Looks (2020)

As part of my gallery wall for beginners posts, I provided two different ways of displaying a very basic gallery wall above a bed. This particular post was accompanied by a video tutorial that takes you step-by-step through the entire process.

5.  How To Clean & Disinfect Driftwood (2020)

While no power tools were involved in this DIY, it was a great little project that allowed me to show how to ensure there are no dirt or critters still living in your driftwood. So easy!

6.  How To Install a Pet Door (2019)

Hubby and I had a lot of fun making this happen. It was not long after my craft area was finally renovated and we wanted to separate the unfinished portion from the finished portion of our basement (see the final Craft Room Reveal here).

So we installed this pet door to allow our fur-babies access to their kitty litter boxes. It is much easier than it looks. We simply followed the instructions provided in the pet door kit – easy-peasy!

I hope you enjoyed this little round-up of the top 6 DIYs from A Pretty Fix.
