11 COZY SEASON CRAFTS
As we head deeper into fall, we will likely be spending more time indoors, so why not add some fall crafting to your indoor activities? These fall craft ideas vary from quick and easy to beginner-level skilled crafts that will keep your hands occupied this season.
Here are some of my favourites from the blog and a few other sources that should have you inspired to get into cozy season crafts this season.
1. TRADITIONAL WREATHS
If you are a craft enthusiast, then there is no other craft more traditional for fall than a seasonal wreath.
I’ve made a lot of seasonal wreaths over the years, including ones for fall and among my favourites is this DIY Wild Rustic Wreath. It’s the perfect blend of minimal modernity with wild rusticity that fits most home aesthetics.
If wild rusticity isn’t your thing, why not try this DIY Pampas Grass wreath?
While the bloom time for pampas grass is summer, the tan and brown tones of this ornamental grass works beautifully within a fall colour palette of browns, tans, and rust colours. You can source out bundles of pampas grass online easily and get crafting this up in no time.
If you love to use pinecones, then you’ve probably created (or wanted to create) a wreath like this DIY Pretty Pinecone variety. Whether you spray paint it white – as I did here – or allow the natural beauty of brown tones to shine through, a traditional pinecone wreath is a lovely way to add a natural touch at home.
2. UNTRADITIONAL WREATH IDEAS
Craving something a little bit unusual? Then these 3 options may inspire your creative juices this season.
These 5-Minute Twig Wreath DIYs are as simple as it gets. The geometric shape creates an interesting base on which to add any natural elements you like.
It’s also the perfect craft to share with the kiddos. Go out for a walk in nature, collect your twigs and decorative elements and you’ve got yourself the makings of an enjoyable family-friendly craft activity.
Similarly, this DIY Rustic Swag wreath was a quick 5-10 minute creation that works well for most seasons of the year. Choose your materials – whether faux, dried, or fresh – and bundle them together to create a cool, casual aesthetic.
Finally, this DIY Raffia Wreath remains one of my all-time favourite experiments that still hangs in my craft room. Raffia is a delightful, unpredictable material that creates unexpected visual interest.
So if you’re looking for a cool, edgy, and somewhat unpredictable material to work with, make it raffia!
3. YARN-WRAPPED PINECONES
One of the first DIYs I shared on this blog were these DIY Yarn-Wrapped Pinecones. I STILL have them to this day, loved making them and continue to add them into my fall vignettes.
They are incredibly easy and fun to make. A perfect activity to share with the kiddos or do it solo while binge-watching your favourite Netflix series.
4. FIBRE COASTERS
If you are itching to learn a new skill, then making your own coasters may be just the thing for you this season.
First up are these Beginner-Friendly DIY Woven Coasters. They are easy to make and allow you to dip your toe into the wide world of weaving (which I highly recommend!). Best of all? There’s no loom required for this project.
If macrame intrigues you, then take a look at the following two DIYs (both video tutorials) that only require learning just 1 knot:
DIY Boho Macrame Coasters
DIY Modern, Minimal Macrame Coasters
5. LEATHER-WRAPPED VASES
Leather (or faux leather) is another way to add a level of elegance in a space within your fall interiors.
These DIY Leather-Wrapped Vases are a simple way to transform a basic glass cylinder into a sophisticated vessel for your fresh or faux floral arrangements.
If you want to take it to the next level, these other leather-wrapped vases using rivet details provide another interesting possibility.
6. TWINE-WRAPPED FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS
Twine has a vast number of uses in your fall decor, many of which are simple and quick. Here are just a couple of easy ways to add a subtle, rustic touch to any floral arrangement:
This twine-wrapped grouping of milk bottles adds easy, effortless style.
You can also wrap a bouquet of faux flowers, dried flowers, or fall foliage that you can hang in a cloche for a display that has heritage vibes.
7. BOOKMARKS MADE OF YARN
It’s hard not to associate the cozy season with curling up with a good book. So why not incorporate some craft time by making your own, personalized bookmarks to ‘mark’ the occasion 🏷️
One of my recent favourite bookmarks were these adorable DIY Macrame Bookmarks. Choose from a wide variety of colours to suit your personal tastes (and learn something new in the process).
If you prefer a traditional look to your bookmarks, then you can always try these DIY Beginner-Level Woven Bookmarks. If you don’t have a loom, no problem! This DIY does not require a loom.
Of course, there are several other sweet DIY bookmarks that I’ve been meaning to make myself, including these 10 Crochet Bookmark ideas or these 12 Easy Knitted Bookmark ideas.
So many possibilities!
8. WOOD BEAD TASSEL GARLAND
I always maintain that creating coziness is all in the details. This DIY wood bead tassel garland is one of those details that can be displayed anywhere and create a casual feeling at home.
Display in a bowl, on a tray, or as part of a decorative grouping of objects, this organic piece adds a lot of shape and texture to any vignette.
9. FIBRE WALL ART
For those who love to think outside the box with your diy decor, these DIY Fibre Wall Art projects are sure to inspire something new this season.
This DIY Arched Fibre Art piece is great for any wall space, but I love it for a baby’s room, entryway, bedroom, or for a curated eclectic gallery wall. Here, I hung it in our foyer for a time and loved the moody hues.
More recently, I shared this experimental DIY 3-Dimensional Fibre Art idea on the blog. What I love about this piece, is that it’s a fabulous way to introduce a textural piece that can be hung on a wall or displayed on any surface along with other decor pieces. The perfect, cozy craft idea for the season.
Of course, for those who follow this blog, you know that woven wall art is a favourite. For a free beginner-friendly tutorial, you can check out this 2-part blog post.

And if you don’t own a sewing machine, no problem! This tutorial shows you how to join the edges by hand stitching them together.
It’s a lovely way to add a touch of coziness during the season that’s personalized to suit your home aesthetic.
11. EMBROIDERY
Embroidery is one of those crafts that can take on a wide range of forms. But getting started with embroidery is really quite easy and requires minimal supplies.
In this tutorial, I shared 7 Basic Embroidery Stitches that anyone can make.
In it, I share:
– Supplies you’ll need and where to find them.
– Detailed instructions on each stitch.
Once you master these, you can make just about any kind of embroidery project. Here are a couple of resources to get you started:
