Nothing says ‘cozy’ at Christmas time than cozy winter seating that you can snuggle up in. Wouldn’t you agree? But while we’ve all got our favourite spots around the home, what makes them cozy, warm and comfortable? What is it that evokes that sense of peaceful serenity that we so often crave during the holidays and beyond?
Well, today I’m excited to be joining up with my blogging pals to provide some of that cozy inspiration by sharing our favourite Cozy Christmas Spots around our homes.
(see links to all 6 Cozy Spots at the bottom of this post)
While ‘cozy’ is often a matter of personal taste and perspective, we hope to give you some ideas for your home (plus, I’ve got a few tips later in the post to help get you started).
My Cozy Corner Seating
For those of you familiar with the blog, you probably already recognize this corner of our home.
It’s located in our living room and is one of my favourite spots in the house.
Not only is it a cozy spot to sit in, but it’s the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee, read, watch my favourite Netflix shows, look out the window, and even fall asleep in.
All it takes for me to feel cozy here is my favourite knitted tassel blanket (an oldie but a goodie) and this caribou pillow which is the latest addition to this cozy corner.
Creating cozy seating, however, is as much about the surroundings, as it is about the seating itself. Next to our couch is a round sea grass storage basket, which adds a lot of visual warmth and interest.
Inside of it are even more cozy items, including pillows, blankets, and decorative pieces like the snow-tipped greenery peeking over the top and 3 birch logs that my husband recently found in the woods and cut to size.
Directly behind the basket is this modern, minimal storage ladder that adds instant vertical interest. But it’s that winter white throw and simple handmade wreath that add texture and evoke a sense of warmth and visual comfort in this vignette.
To create this minimal DIY wreath, simply take a single-stem of greenery and shape it into a circle, fasten it together using floral wire, and add jute twine to hang it up.
Lastly, to complete this cozy winter corner, candles and vintage books provide a lot of warmth and charm to the space.
3 Tips for Creating Your Own Cozy Spot This Winter
1. Pillows & Throw Blankets
If you don’t remember anything from this post, your biggest takeaway should be to add pillows and throw blankets. These INSTANTLY add both form and function to a space. And not only that, they add an instant cozy factor.
(For more, see my post: Decorating 101: How Throw Pillows & Blankets Can Make Your Space Look Better INSTANTLY)
2. Natural Elements
Adding natural elements like birch logs, greenery, candles, pinecones or any other outdoor elements go a long way in making a space feel warm, cozy and comfortable.

3. Dress Up With Layers
Probably the most sage advice we got from our mothers was to dress in layers for the winter! This advice is no less valuable when creating a cozy, comfortable and decorated home. Adding in a few key accessories to a sofa, a table, a bench or floor goes a long way in making a space feel inviting.
