SIMPLY FALL: Warm & Cozy Fall Living Room Refresh

In keeping with the “Simply Fall” DIY Series, I thought I’d follow up my Simple Fall Kitchen Tray Display with a Warm & Cozy Fall Living Room Refresh & Tour.

This space is chalk-full of simple vignettes and seasonal touches that mix thrifted & modern pieces. I’ve even included a Selected Source List for any new decor items that peak your interest – just scroll to the bottom of this post

I’m SO excited to welcome you into my living room all decked out for fall 🙂

Earlier this year, I’d shared with all of you my Serene Summer Living Room Tour. It was light and bright and very simply decorated – just perfect for summer.

But for autumn, as temperatures begin to drop, I always love adding layers and texture into my living room in order to create warmth and a feeling of coziness. Even as a minimalist in my decorating habits, I enjoy the feeling that a few, well-placed layers and textures add to a space.

As I do each season, I focused on three main areas of the living room: seating (couches and chairs), the coffee table, and the wall space around our tv. This allowed me to ensure our living room got a 360 degree refresh for the season.

For our couches and chairs, I wanted to transition from soft summer whites and creams to subtle browns, greens and hints of black in order to cozy up the space for fall.

I was also mindful of costs (I have a weakness for pillows!). In fact, I was absolutely OBSESSED with sourcing out pillow covers instead of pillows and I succeeded in finding a few inexpensive ones at Amazon and H&M (Canadian site, US site, GB site). (I was especially impressed with the quality of H&M’s pillow covers, despite the low price – a win-win!)

(See my pillow cover source list at the bottom of this post).

For our coffee table, I mixed vintage and new pieces that created an eclectic and layered look. Can you guess which are thrifted and which are not?

The area around our TV can be tricky to decorate, but I seem to have found a formula that works for us.

The basket & blanket ladder on the left have become a staple in my living room decor. They offer the perfect way to display my decor – mainly throw pillows and blankets – and this season is no different.

On the far right is this lush and gorgeous faux fiddle leaf tree and charcoal grey basket – both of which I found at Home Sense (a discount chain of home goods stores across Canada). It’s so lifelike that you wouldn’t know it’s not the real deal.

I already had the faux fur rug and pumpkin underneath which add a subtle seasonal touch that ties in nicely with the rest of the room.

Finally, for our armchairs, I decided to keep things minimal with just a couple of charcoal grey throw blankets to add some depth. Burger and Frite certainly appear satisfied with the stripped-down look 🙂

Thanks very much, Vivien! I’m definitely in a fall state of mind these days and taking advantage with some new craft and decor ideas for our home. The living room, though, always gets a little extra something each season. It’s where we spend the most time and I love making it feel warm and cozy 🙂

Thanks Michelle! I generally love a ‘light hand’ when it comes to decorating, so adding in plenty of cozy touches was a challenge, to be sure. It was a fun process, though, however it turned out! Have a great week my dear!
